The aim of this study was to adapt and validate the ambivalent sexism inventory (ASI) by Glick and Fiske for its use with Argentinian subjects. After analyzing the conceptual, semantic and operational equivalence of the english version of the instrument, the adapted version was administered to a sample of 345 Argentinians (53% male, mean age 28.2 years), together with scales of neosexism, social attitudes and social desirability. Exploratory factor analysis SHowed a four-factor structure that explained 52.6% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis corroborated the previous structure, SHowing that the model presents good fit indices. Correlation analysis demonstrated the validity of the asi. The reliability of the inventory reached satisfactory levels. Results are discussed in light of the theory, and suggestions for future research in the area are provided.
