Burnout syndrome is a dysfunctional process that emerges from chronical work stress, where many individual, social and organizational characteristics are involved. This syndrome has many negative affective connotations that may influence personal, social and work performance levels of any person. Although there are many research studies about the Burnout syndrome in working and organizational psychology, the pragmatic evidence of descriptive models has been focused in two directions. On one hand and generally speaking, in a conceptual plane the proposed definitions fail to show significant operational evidence. In the other hand and at a methodological level, the precise Burnout assessment still is a remaining subject to be determined. Engagement (opposed theoretical construct to Burnout) is defined as a positive psychological work effect that includes: dedication, absorption and vigor of anyone when performing an occupation. In this direction, some researchers propose that engagement dimensions are opposites of the Burnout dimensions. Therefore, in this research a multivariate statistical analysis was applied to higher level engineering students in order to determine their Burnout and engagement compromise levels towards study activities. The factorial validity of the indicators of Burnout syndrome and engagement is deduced from the selected sample, using multi-variable statistical analysis.
