To determine the influence of the social network Facebook in the daily life of university students, an instrument was created to measure attitudes, behaviors and uses given to this particular social network. The instrument was applied to 381 students of the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, 239 females and 142 males. The results demonstrated that there are differences between men and women, since woman spend more time on Facebook and have more awareness of possible consequences derived from the used of this social media network. The results by the different age groups of people showed that the youngest (less than 18 years old) have a more positive attitude toward the social media network. There are differences between the attitudes towards Facebook depending the time spent in the network per day. Finally, it was found that student’s identity is impacted by the time spent in the network.
