FLORES, José de Jesús Vargas; REYES, Edilberta Joselina Ibáñez  y  LIRA, María Luisa Hernández. Selección de pareja y diferenciación: un estudio cualitativo. Altern. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.29, pp. 126-149. ISSN 1405-339X.

There are different theories that try to explain the couple selection. These theories vary from aspects such as intrapsychic, social and relational. However, there is not a single theory that explains all the possible aspects, in a comprehensive way, of the phenomenon. One possibility to approach the couple selection is using the differentiation concept of Bowen (1978). It explains the emotional regulation that the subject establishes between him and the other people. Using this perspective, the goal of this research is to make a qualitative study based on profound interviews to analyze and describe the differentiation levels in the family and in couple. The results showed that all interviewed subjects were very fused with their families and couples. The results are discussed using the differentiation concept as base with its social and psychological implications.

Palabras clave : couple selection; qualitative studies; differentiation; fusion; cut-off.
