We evaluated: self-concept, depression and anxiety took height and weight measurements to calculate BMI to a random sample of college students (n = 936: 628 -301 men and women-) with the appropriate written informed consent. Evaluations were performed as a group. The results showed the existence of perceived obesity even when contrasted with BMI, they found inconsistencies between these two constructs (self-perception of being malnourished or obese normal weight and obesity status self not perceived) and relationship between BMI and the variables emotional and BMI sex deference and self-concept factors. Results are discussed regarding the implications of these findings for this population.
