Abstract

This article aims to do a historical review of childhood from the period called philantropic-hygienist up to today. It begins with the New School Movement, with the subtle instauration of forms of discipline. Thus, the interface of psychology with the studies on childhood development and individual differences, that resulted and supported the work of the professionals of this area in the Juizado de Menores, at FUNABEM. As well as in shelter entities, already reorganized through the Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente. Seeing some researches on the psychological discourses, we problematize the introduction of Psychology in the debate about public policies, specifically in the childhood area entitled vulnerable.
