SPARTA, Mônica; BARDAGI, Marúcia P.  e  ANDRADE, Ana Maria Jung de. Vocational exploration and perceived career information in low-income students. Aletheia [online]. 2005, n.22, pp. 79-88. ISSN 1413-0394.

This study investigated demographic data and vocational aspects in 59 low-income students, of both sexes, with ages between 16 and 48 years. Most participants had taken the university entry exams before and have a defined career choice. Most of them have insufficient perceived information about careers, career choice process, higher education, college student’s life, and labor market. Heterogeneity was observed in the vocational exploration levels. The results show the importance of vocational exploration in career choice process, as well as the lack of vocational guidance and information interventions with this population, people who want to go to the university but have no support for constructing a consistent career project.

Palavras-chave : Career choice; Vocational exploration; Vocational guidance.
