Abstract

MULLER, Fernanda Graudenz; BEIRAS, Adriano  and  CRUZ, Roberto Moraes. The psychologist’s work in family conflict mediation: reflections based on the experience of the family mediation service in Santa Catarina. Aletheia [online]. 2007, n.26, pp. 196-209. ISSN 1413-0394.

Family mediation is an alternative to state justice for the dissolution of the matrimonial link and the consequential conflicts of the break up. The purpose of this article is to reflect about psychologist work at the Family Mediation Service (FMS), a pioneer program in Florianópolis, Brazil. This service reflects the necessity to promote social efficacy in conflict solution on the juridical system: autonomy of involved subject, processual economy (both in time and cost), as well as personal effects (both affective and emotional), relationship skills (comprehension of the nature of the link/break up). Mediation work contributes to evaluate the insertion opportunities of psychologists in this juridical field and the capacity to attend socially significant needs.

Keywords : Mediation; Family conflicts; Psychologist work.
