Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the origin and articulation between models of couple therapy in the end of the XX century and beginning of the XXI century. For such, revision articles about couple psychotherapy that were published and indexed to the Psiclit, from 1980 to7 august 2006, under the keywords: review, marital therapy and couple therapy were used. The focus is on different proposals for the articulation of models from different approaches, which are discussed methodologically in their technical and/or theoretical contributions. Proposals of integration between different perspectives for couple psychotherapy such as brief psychotherapy, sexual therapy, and psychiatry are discussed. The implications for new directions of study are indicated.
