We intend to place through the review of the current literature the drought phenomenon in the wide discussion toward the risks, hazards and disasters, standing out their importance on the perspective of the climate changes theoretical. From the phenomena classification like hazards and disasters, we show their fundamental characteristics on the physical point of view, differentiating them from the water shortage. As a conclusion, there are indications of possible theoretical-practical developments being aimed to contribute to this subject development that leads to aspects of a physical description, being directly related to the human factor. This way, the drought disaster is of the Psychology camp interest too especially in areas where these disasters happen.
