Abstract

This study aimed to factorially analyze two tests to measure aggressiveness. Protocols of both sexes 445 students, attending at the courses of Engineering and Psychology of a private university of a city of the interior of the state of São Paulo were studied. In this research the criteria of the CID-10 and DSM-IV were used as base for the construction of a scale to assess the aggressiveness. The items of the male scale were separated from the female scale by means of an analysis of the items differential functioning, and they were analyzed using the principal components analysis with varimax rotation, The female scale showed three factors and the male ones presented four, being the antisocial and manipulative behaviors common of both scales, irritability factor characterized the female scale, and irresponsibility and neglected behaviors characterized the male scale. The reliability measured by internal consistence were predominantly good.
