SILVA, Eduardo Pinto e. Listening to stressed workers as a strategy for professional formation enhancement. Aletheia [online]. 2009, n.29, pp. 43-56. ISSN 1413-0394.

This paper deals with listening to stressed workers’ discourse as a possible strategy for the creation of areas of discussion about their work routine, management and organization. The data presented are from this author’s doctoral research about police officers’ stress. In the first stage, it was verified, through an Inventory of Stress Symptoms, the existence of 32% of stressed workers. In interviews it was possible to detect relations between stress and aspects of work management and organization. In the second stage, data concerning professional formation were collected through questionnaires and interviews. It was concluded that professional formation based on discussions about work routine may be essential for mental health as well as professional and organizational developments.
