Abstract

FLANZER, Sandra Niskier. Via transience (the temporality of psychoanalysis and its relation to femininity). Aletheia [online]. 2009, n.29, pp. 142-150. ISSN 1413-0394.

In his text On Transience, Freud (1972/1915) addresses certain fundamental issues poetically. I intend to examine points drawn from that text relating to the temporality proper to Psychoanalysis, and to suggest some approximations with other texts, particularly Civilization and its Discontents (Freud, 1972/1930). The issue of temporality is presented here in terms of the parallels it offers with femininity. It is proposed that transience be understood as a means of access, a passage, to femininity in that, by its ephemerality, it points to a phallic place, at the same time indicating a place of emptiness.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Time; Femininity.
