Abstract

FERMINO, Juliana M.; PATRICIO, Zuleica M.; KRAWULSKI, Edite  and  SISSON, Maristela C.. Psychologists performance in Family Health Programme: the work routine motivating the rethinking of professional practices and training. Aletheia [online]. 2009, n.30, pp. 113-128. ISSN 1413-0394.

This is a qualitative research done with psychologists working in Mental Health Services of municipalities in the area assisted by the Associação dos Municípios do Médio Vale do Itajaí (AMMVI) [Association of Municipalities of Itajaí Central Valley], in Santa Catarina state, Brazil. The purpose of this research was to identify the psychologists’ perception of their practices which are part of the Programa de Saúde da Família (PSF) [Family Health Programme]. The study participants consider the work they carry out as being important, but they also believe that they are not completely aware of the duties required for the task nor are they qualified to meet the demand of the collective health services. These flaws are due to poor academic training, which does not qualify them to transcend individual performance in clinical context to a collective health approach, and to poor insertion of the psychologists in basic health group interfering with their continued qualification and the legitimacy of their work in this context.

Keywords : Psychologist work; Collective health; Family Health Programme.
