NASCIMENTO, Maria Lívia do; LACAZ, Alessandra Speranza  e  TRAVASSOS, Marilisa. Differences between the law and the daily life in the shelters: ECA’s trajectories. Aletheia [online]. 2010, n.31, pp. 16-25. ISSN 1413-0394.

The text presents discussions about a bibliographical research that has analyzed written productions about the subject: sheltering of children and young people. Such study aimed to cartography the written narratives about shelters and family living from the year 2000, when, after ten years of the promulgation of the Children and Adolescent Statute (ECA), the consolidation of its bases in the society could be expected and its deployment discussed. Among the categories of analysis lifted, one of them, “ECA’s proposal and the daily life in the shelters” inquiring the changes produced by the Statute in the logic of assistance to the childhood, asking them through the daily practices of the shelters. The produced analysis shows differences between the law and these practices, qualifying the shelter as a space that protects the rights of children and young people, but also violates these same rights while breaking the law in other ways.
