Abstract

FERREIRA, Elizelma Ortêncio  and  CAPITAO, Cláudio Garcia. Investigation of the degree of tolerance to frustation in prisioners. Aletheia [online]. 2010, n.31, pp. 97-110. ISSN 1413-0394.

The present work was aimed at evaluating the kind of reaction to frustration and the aggressive feelings of prisoners. In addition, it was checked as well the relation of dependence between the kind of offense (theft, robbery, kidnapping, homicide, hold-up and others) and the aggressiveness construct through the Rosenzweig Frustration Test (PF). The instrument was applied to 125 prisoners of a top-security prison in São Paulo state countryside. It is possible to affirm that the majority of these men, under frustration situations, express more intensely their aggressive feelings and tend to attribute their fault toward the other. The ANOVA variance analysis has indicated that the individuals who committed theft repress in a lesser way their aggressiveness under frustration circunstances, when compared with the ones that have not committed such offense. Based on the results attained, one can deduct that the research has accomplished the established objectives by finding scarce tolerance to frustration in the sample of prisoners, mainly for the theft offense group, considering the entire array of offenses.
