LIBORIO, Ana Clara Oliveira  y  NEVES, Marisa Maria Brito da Justa. Social interaction and the climate for creativity in the classroom. Aletheia [online]. 2010, n.31, pp. 168-183. ISSN 1413-0394.

This study aim was to investigate whether there were significant differences in the climate for creativity among fifth grade classes; to identify possible relationships between the teacher-student interactions and the climate for creativity in the classroom; and to identify how the teachers’ beliefs about creativity and its promotion in the classroom were related to a more or less favorable climate for creativity in the classroom. The study was performed in a public school of Distrito Federal and suggests that there are different degrees of climate for creativity in the fifth grade classes. Those classes exhibiting a more favorable climate for creativity also showed more frequent instances of teacher-student interaction involving harmony, cooperation and command, compared to that of disregard. With regard to the teachers’ beliefs about creativity and how to promote it, the study shows that the teacher’ preparation are more important than their beliefs about the phenomena.

Palabras clave : Creativity; Climate for creativity; Teacher-student interaction.
