Burnout is a psychosocial phenomenon witch result from chronic emotional tension, experienced professionals whose work includes the intense relationship and frequent contact with people who need some care. The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence and factors associated with burnout syndrome in a sample of 224 health professionals, 112 Brazilian and 112 Portuguese. A questionnaire was built with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Satisfaction at Work (QLS S20/23) and a questionnaire to survey the remaining variables considering the specifics of the work context of the countries involved. The results showed a similar prevalence and no differences were identified by the dimensions of burnout. Results identified differences between countries in the associations between the three dimensions of the syndrome and sociodemographic, psychosocial and employment.
