Abstract

VIEIRA, Érico Douglas  and  STENGEL, Márcia. The knots of the individualism and the conjugality in Post Modernity. Aletheia [online]. 2010, n.32, pp. 147-160. ISSN 1413-0394.

The individualism is an ideology present in the Post-Modernity that takes the individual as reference. This work attempted to show the relationship between the individualities and the state of conjugality, as well as to understand the subjects they live with in light of the present remapping in Post-Modernity. Romantic love, liquid love, conventional and egalitarian forms of relationship is some of the contradictory maps available to the individual. For the accomplishment of the research three couples living together were interviewed, two being heterosexual couples and a male homosexual couple. The love partners were interviewed separately, the collected material being analyzed in categories through a content analysis. We observed that the interviewees hope to obtain security from the relationship, wanting for the love to last as long as it provides enough satisfactions to justify continuity. The conviviality of individuality with the conjugal state can represent a source of conflicts between the couple.

Keywords : Individualism; Conjugality; Post-modernity.
