Abstract

The obsessive-compulsive disorder subjects the bearer to a cycle of thoughts and behaviors in search of a momentary satisfaction. The symptoms are similar, regardless of age, and the repercussions are given in the main sectors of life of affected by it. Therefore, treatment is important, assisting in alleviating the effects caused by OCD. Thus, this article by reviewing theoretical, aimed to discuss the disorder and verify that within age groups there is evolutionary differences in the characteristics, effects and manner of treatment, using the approach of cognitive behavioral therapy. It might be concluded that OCD presents some differences among age groups, mainly related to the type of impact and how to treat the disorder.
