Abstract

Displaying the meanings of women's work in the poultry production. Aletheia [online]. 2011, n.35-36, pp. 95-108. ISSN 1413-0394.

This paper informs the results of a research which aimed to analysed the meanings of work for women in a small poultry slaughterhouse, in Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The understanding of the meanings was supported by the Social Psychology related to social constructionism theory. The information was obtained by eight women interviewed, observations and documents consulted. It was made analyses of the material collected. The results describe the women's professional trajectories of the interviewees, indicating the reasons why they started working in the slaughterhouse, their everyday life in the workplace and thoughts of the future professional. I was concluded that their existence conditions (gender, age, location, habitation) have been marked their work's trajectories.
