The Motivational Interviewing (MI) has been developed with the aim of helping people to make unadaptive behavioral changes. Currently, a wide variety of professionals have been trained to effectively utilize MI in clinical practice. This article aimed, through an unsystematic review of literature, know the MI trainings offered to health professionals. Studies were identified by computerized search of articles in different databases, covering the period from 2000 to 2012. We found a total of 30 studies and of those, 19 were included in this review. The results indicated that MI trainings through workshops can facilitate the proficient use of different strategies available to health professionals. The elements most commonly addressed in training were the spirit and the basic skills of MI, as well as recognize and reinforce the conversation about change and track resistance.
