Abstract

SILVA, Milena Leite  and  ARPINI, Dorian Mônica. New National Adoption Law: reviewing relationship between families and youth. Aletheia [online]. 2013, n.40, pp. 43-57. ISSN 1413-0394.

This is a qualitative study carried out with psychologists and social workers who work in residential care institutions in a city of Rio Grande do Sul. Interviews aimed to understand the impact of the New National Adoption Law as regards to the institutional practice, focusing on the relation between family and institution. Content analysis method was chosen to understand the results, which evidenced changes in the context of institutions and their relations with families. However, results highlighted that stigmatizing perspectives present in this scenario must be overcome to surpass historically built practices. Final considerations underline the relevance of conducting new studies to widen the possibilities of work in the context of families in difficult situations that demand actions to be taken by the State.
