Abstract

Objective: To study the prevalence of the beginning of sexual life (IVS) and related factors in school adolescents on the 8° year of the public school in Porto Velho-RO in 2010. Material and methods: Transversal study with a representative sample of 996 school analyzed with t-Student test and Cox Regression. Results: The prevalence of IVS was 25.5%. The IVS is associated with age, physical activity, alcohol, tobacco and drugs consumption, missing school without their parents' knowledge, sadness and suicidal plans. The adolescents, who reported that their parents understand them, know where they are in their free time and feel discrimination showed fewer sexual beginning. Conclusions: The school has to deal with the students questions related to sexuality and healthy lifestyle the early as possible, in a way to prepare them for their sexual initiation and a life with more quality.
