The aim of this study was to characterize the child and adolescent population who sought psychological care in a service - school in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, RS. Characteristics of 194 children and adolescents seen were described in the period 2008-2012, including variables such as gender, age, reason for seeking, type of care. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 17.0. It was found that most children were in age group between 5 and 9 years (45.9%), being the most boys (63.9%). Most children (43.5%) presented of problems related learning, 48.1% of children started treatment and forsake. It is highlighted in this study that the exchange the therapist did not influence for the patient give up the psychological treatment. Through this research we analyzed the need for computerization in the database in service - school and improved record keeping.
