ANGST, Cristiane; OLIVEIRA-MENEGOTTO, Lisiane Machado de  and  GIONGO, Carmem Regina. Violence in the context of early childhood education: an educational psychology look. Aletheia [online]. 2015, n.46, pp. 174-186. ISSN 1413-0394.

This article aims to analyze and discuss the contributions of Educational Psychology towards violence, present in teacher-student relations in the Kindergarten. Data collection was performed at Pre-K class, at a school of early childhood education, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The research tools used were the participant naturalistic observation and content analysis of the Political-Pedagogical project. Two teachers and 16 children participated in the research. Data analysis occurred through content analysis and triangulation, considering the Political-Pedagogical Project and fieldnotes. The results pointed at paradoxes and contradictions between the concept of explicit education in the Political-Pedagogical Project and the management of teachers, permeated by violence. Data were discussed from an Educational Psychology perspective, which generated various intervention possibilities and transformation of school relations based on violence.

Keywords : Violence; Early childhood education; Educational psychology.
