Abstract

FILIPPESEN, Osvaldo André  and  MARIN, Angela Helena. Emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationship : Report of intervention with secondary technical teachers. Aletheia [online]. 2018, vol.51, n.1-2, pp. 191-201. ISSN 1413-0394.

This experience report describes and evaluates an intervention developed with ten teachers from a private technical school in Porto Alegre/RS, which aimed to examine indicators of emotional intelligence and how they could contribute to the quality of their interpersonal relationships, particularly with students and with the school direction. A quantitative and qualitative intervention research was carried out on days and at times provided by the school, using the instruments of the Emotional Intelligence Measure and a questionnaire with open questions about emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships in school, in addition to a proposal, which involved lectures, debates and moments of reflection. The results, obtained through descriptive statistics and inductive thematic analysis, revealed that in addition to a slight improvement in the quality of the teachers’ relations with the students and the direction, it was possible to elucidate and to know the main concerns of the teachers and to point out the present difficulties involved to their work. It was concluded that the intervention served its purpose, although that for significant changes in interpersonal relationships, institutional improvements would also be necessary.

Keywords : teacher; emotional intelligence; intervention.
