Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the speech of patients with breast cancer in a phenomenological approach. The resilience is assessed by Resilience Pillars of Scale. The patients with breast cancer, aged 42 to 89, were surveyed in the waiting room of the Integrated Attention Center of women's health (Centro de Atenção Integral à Saúde da Mulher), in São Caetano do Sul-SP, Brazil. It was found in the speeches a feeling of great regret, abandonment, low expectations and emotional instability of patients when they referred to the disease and causes, demonstrating low resilience. It also discussed the about effect in the formation of academic and professional identity and analytical skills psychology intern face the experiences provided by reporting experience. The results can help professionals to (re)think the attention and care provided to patients with breast cancer into clinical routine.
