Abstract

AGUIAR, Renan Nunes et al. Quality of life and clothing: A literature review. Aletheia [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.1, pp. 166-176. ISSN 1413-0394.

The anomalies present in the vestibular system are characterized as vestibulopathies, of which there may be symptoms such as dizziness and/or vertigo. The objective was to verify if vestibulopathy affects the quality of life of the people. An integrative review of the literature was conducted, which included a search of articles published between 2010 and 2018 in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) database. A total of 208 results were identified, of which nine articles were selected to make up this review because they met the inclusion criteria: studies published in Portuguese, English or Spanish, presenting the combination of "vestibular" and "quality of life" in the title, keywords or abstract. The results indicated that people with vestibulopathies presented impairment in several aspects related to their quality of life, as well as that vestibular disease produces great social impact, due to the capacity to generate individual incapacity. It is also emphasized that the physical imbalance can generate emotional and / or psychic insecurity. These facts point to the need for greater attention in the planning of public health policies aimed at the conditions of this population, due to the appearance of such anomalies that directly affect the quality of life of the individual.

Keywords : Internal Ear; Quality of life; Rehabilitation; Vestibulopathies.
