Abstract

Primary Health Care is a field in which health workers acquire special relevance because it affects the quality of service provided to the users and to the community. The purpose of this descriptive and qualitative study was to know health and happiness perception of the Family Health Strategy workers in a city in the South of Brazil. 60 health professionals were interviewed between December 2014 and January 2015. Data was analyzed according to thematic analysis. Health was referred to as well-being, work, family, self-care and active life and happiness was related to living life, peace, leisure, work and family. The interviewees pointed out that health and happiness are interrelated aspects. The results show the need for actions, from the individual level, to public policies that impact on the quality of life of Primary Health Care workers.
