Objectives: To evaluate a performance of the Neonatal Screening through the SUS in the children of the city of Canoas/RS, in the year 2016. Methodology: descriptive, transversal, quantitative study, consisting of 3.920 newborns from the municipality that performed TN in the SUS. For the data collection, the children's records were used, which are stored as a table in the Excel Program of the Child Health Policy of the Municipal Health Department. Data were analyzed in SPSS 21.0 using the Chi-Square Test (significance level 5%). Results: it was verified that 84.7% of the exams were performed between the 3rd and 5th day of life and the main reason for the late collection was due to lack of information (4.3%). Conclusion: The Pezinho test occurred mostly in the period recommended by the Ministry of Health, but the late collections were due to lack of information.
