Multiprofessional Integrated Residences in Health are postgraduate programs characterized by in-service teaching. ULBRA offers the program with emphasis on Adult and Senior Health and Community Health. The purpose of this study is to describe the activities performed in a hospital environment by nurses. This is an experience report of resident nurses in relation to the first year of specialized training. The first year of residence included activities in hospitalization units, surgical center and intensive care unit. There were several activities developed by residents, covering technical improvement, production of scientific knowledge and management. The presence of tutors and preceptors is fundamental in the sense of discussing, guiding and facilitating the insertion and professional development of the resident. The residency program allowed to improve skills in the three fields of activity of the category: care, management and research.
