ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to analyze child violence in the Brazilian context, correlating it with socioeconomic, sociocultural, generational and gender factors, investigating their impact on children's health. A descriptive epidemiological study was carried out based on data from scientific articles and official documents on violence, as well as the use of the Notification of Injury Information System (SINAN) database, SciELO and Google Scholar platforms. There was a higher prevalence of physical violence and neglect, a higher rate of sexual violence against females and negligence against male. The main aggressors identified were the father and the mother. About ethnicity, brown children were more beaten, as well as those with lower schooling. The consequences of child violence extend beyond the moment of aggression, by disrupting cognitive functions and even influencing the genesis of psychiatric disorders.
