Abstract

BARBOSA, Maria Nadeje Pereira. Considerations on the over-determination of phobic symptom in Hans' case. Interações [online]. 2003, vol.8, n.15, pp. 81-104. ISSN 1413-2907.

The present work discuss the over-determination of phobic symptom, according to S. Freud's study "Analysis of a Phobia in a Fiver-Year-Old Boy". Understanding such work as an attempt to confirm the Freudian hypothesis regarding to the infant sexuality, the aim of this work is to comprehend the over-determination of Hans' phobic symptom originated from multiple association paths that reciprocally intersect, either by resemblance or contiguity. It results in the displacement of the meaning of the symptom to each one of Hans's family story protagonists (mother, father and sister), even including Freud himself, and in the configuration of a symptomatic complex bounded to elements more or less unconscious. Some particular moments of engendering and consolidation of Hans's phobic symptom are analyzed, as well as his bound with parental figures. Finally, it is traced the vicissitudes of Hans' search for meaning in a sexual matter, especially the origin of the knowledge drive development, the impairments that obstruct its free course, as well as the process of sex differences recognition.
