Abstract

This paper intends to discuss the sexual practices of and meanings associated to them by high school male students between 15 and 19 years old who dwell in Florianopolis, a state capital of southern Brazil. For this research a questionnaire was applied in the classroom. The outcomes, taking into consideration an analysis of gender, pointed to changes and continuities in sexual behavior in relation to past generations. Among the continuities, it is particularly worrying the belief that the use of condoms disturbs sexual intercourse, and that its use is not necessary when the boy trusts his partner.
