Resumen

FONSECA, Márcia Aparecida de Abreu  y  CARVALHO, Alysson Massote. Life fragments: social representations of organs donation for transplants. Interações [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.20, pp. 85-108. ISSN 1413-2907.

the central purpose of the article is to describe the social representations of a hospital community regarding organ donation for transplants. We interviewed professionals working in four hospitals (in in-patients awards) and patients and their relatives during pre and post transplantation. We interviewed a total of 18 people divided into five groups: Group 1 (9 health professionals), Group 2 (5 pre-transplant patients), Group 3 (2 post-transplant patients), Group 4 (1 relative of a pre-transplant patient), and Group 5 (1 relative of a pos-transplant patient). The data obtained using semi-structured underwent a content analysis. Death, life and solidarity were final categories associated to organ donation constructed by the hospital community. These social representations of organ donation for transplants show the need of a more humane relationship among patients and their relatives and health professionals.
