The professional representations have been a theoretical approach since the nineties and have been getting expression on studies of the professional field, in the ambit of Social Psychology. This article aims to introduce an explanation about the professional representations, teaching the readers about the elements that distinguish and resemble the social representations. Therefore, we took as main reference the theoretical propositions developed by the research group Représentations et Engagements professionnels, leurs Evolutions: Recherche et Expertise from Toulose University - La Mirail in France. Within the contributions of this work, it aims the opening of new investigative ways to the unveiling of processes and products of the professionalization and professionalism of professional groups of reference.
