FELIX-SILVA, Antônio Vladimir  e  GOMES, Camila Batista Silva. Grief and survival: the struggle of traditional fishing communities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Estud. psicol. (Natal) [online]. 2021, vol.26, n.3, pp. 286-297. ISSN 1413-294X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22491/1678-4669.20210027.

In a scenario in which the sovereignty of capital and the state of exception blur the boundaries between the power of life and policies of death, the Covid-19 pandemic amplifies the precariousness of life. The objective is to analyze processes of subjectivation and enunciation of struggle, grief, and survival in fishing communities in terms of access to health and social assistance. We used cartography as a way of doing research, which produced information through tracing, landing, and recognition methods along with the Observatory of the Coronavirus Impacts on Fishing Communities. The results show a common becoming in the struggle, in the face of grief and survival; the lives of all generations matter, and all lives and deaths are susceptible to grief and struggle; processes of exclusion-inclusion regarding government emergency financial help, the suspension of artisanal fishing work and Close Season Insurance.

Palavras-chave : covid-19; struggle; grief; survival; traditional fishing community.
