Abstract

This is a cross-sectional exploratory descriptive study that used data collected through a closed questionnaire with 657 psychologists in the states of Amazonas, Bahia and São Paulo. We started from the hypothesis that racism as an external variable, that is, as an organizer of ethnic-racial relations between white and black people in the country, influences the training and occupation variables of psychologists. The results showed that racism has a huge influence, because when compared to black psychologists, white people showed privileges in training, degrees level, time of experience in the labor market, in the areas and type of Psychology services that they work with; in addition, to serve white people as well, who are also positioned in the highest income ranges.
