This paper aimed the comparison of data collected in two pediatric units (A and B), relative to participantmothers' programs. The a set of results show how parents may participate in their children's rooming-in care activities, at the same time, that they receive attention as clients, due to the illness and hospitalization situation consequences. The work includes the description of the care given as well as its characteristics in both units. Besides, that it describes how family members evaluated the care given. The methodology included the field participant observation, the systematic observation of group sessions, open and semi-structured interviews in Unit A and also the direct observation of activities and family members' interviews in Unit B. The results showed differences in the rooming-in programs and in the evaluation made by the parents.
