WAGNER, Adriana  and  FERES-CARNEIRO, Terezinha. Remarriage and the graphic representation of the family. Temas psicol. [online]. 2000, vol.8, n.1, pp. 11-19. ISSN 1413-389X.

The present study aimed to know who was regarded as family members by adolescents both from Original Families (OF) or Remarried Families (RF). Three hundred and ninety four male and female adolescents were asked to draw their families. The drawings were analyzed for the assissment of the family configuration, family proximity or distance among members and the valuation, devaluation or segregation of a certain personage. Results demonstrated that 97.5% of the OF adolescents drew all the family members they lived with. In RF, 23 .3% of them drew only their OF members; 45.7% drew the RF members they lived with; 23.3% drew both family members, partially or completely and 7.6% drew other groupings. In the OF adolescents' drawings there was not any kind of family segregation. In the RF family segregation appeared in 17.7% of them. The father was the main figure among valued family members in OF (65%) and RF (25%). It has been concluded that cohabitation, consanguinity and time of remarriage variables related to are important in the definition of remarried families
