Abstract

The present study used to investigate the Information - Motivation - Behavioral Skills Model (1MB) the undergradutes'use of condoms during sexual intercourse as AIDS prevention. Participants were 405 undergraduates, aged 17 to 30, evenly divided by sex, having no actual partner, a stable one, or several ones. The instrument included questions about information on AIDS about motivation, represented by the main variables of the Theory of Reasoned Action, (TRA), and Behavioral Skills based on the Self-Efficacy model. Four variables, stated below by order of importance, explained A variance of 34,1% on condom use behavior may be related to four different variables: the intention of using condom, situational conditions, behavioral skills, and behavioral beliefs.
