Abstract

ENUMO, Sônia Regina Fiorim; CUNHA, Ana Cristina Barros da; PAULA, Kely Maria Pereira de  and  DIAS, Tatiane Lebre. Mediator's and visually impaired child's behaviors during assisted assessment of cognitive abilities. Temas psicol. [online]. 2002, vol.10, n.1, pp. 71-84. ISSN 1413-389X.

The assisted assessment, as a new theoretical and methodological proposal, has been efficient in psychological diagnosis. One of the urges in that area is the evaluation of the interaction between the mediator and the child during the dynamic testing, which includes the phases without aid, assistence and maintenance. This work intends to define and describe the behavior of the mediator and of the visually impaired child, in the situation of assisted assessment of cognitive abilities. Verbal and non-verbal behaviors were described according to videotape records of 11 sessions, 25 minutes each, during the application of the Exclusion of Geometric Figures Test (4 pre-school children) and the Search Questions of Geometric Figures Game for Visually Impaired Children (7 children in literacy phase) . The proposed categories described the behaviors of both the mediator and the children, allowing the identification of the teaching strategies used, especially during the phase of assistence.

Keywords : assisted assessment; visual impairment; behaviors of mediation.
