This paper argues for a fundamental function of symbolic abilities, aside monetary abilities, in the teaching curriculum of monetary abilities to developmental disabled people. The development of teaching procedures for the acquisition of monetary abilities shows the status of abilities in mathematics that is necessary for such acquisition. This paper also presents a synthesis of research topics related to linguistic behavior in the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (EAB), emphasizing intervention technology developed by the area of EAB. Furthermore, this paper takes into account the promising relationship between stimulus equivalence and the teaching of math pre-requisites for the development of teaching procedures of monetary abilities to individuals diagnosed as mentally deficient. Finally, the paper compares the peculiar features of procedures to teach adding and those procedures employed to teach reading and writing skills, as well as their advantages and generative effects over the curriculum, and their effects over the individuals adaptation to the social environment.
