The main purpose of the present study was to scale the social readjustment teacher's life event. The other purposes were to evaluate whether the non-metric continuum of seriousness of the illness possesses prothetic or methatetic characteristics and to verify whether Ekman’s law is valid for this non-metric continuum. In this study, magnitude estimates and line lengths production were compared by cross-modality matches. These methods were performed by 21 subjects (10 teachers and 11 professorship students). The exponent was 0. 93. This value is next to the expected exponent. In summary, the data furnish a scale of teacher’s life events that, at the level of ratio measurement, is valid, stable and consistent.
