Abstract

LEAO, Maria de Lourdes Meireles Carneiro. Mediated interaction as the locus of the construction of specific knowledge. Temas psicol. [online]. 2004, vol.12, n.1, pp. 56-66. ISSN 1413-389X.

Recently, many researchers have given attention at communicative interactions. These communicative interactions are studied as work activities that are locally constructed and negotiated in several professional situations. Following this trend of thought this research is an exploratory study based on a ethnographic approach. The present author investigated collaborative, interactive processes that happen in a high tech professional environment. The author also investigated the importance of interactive processes in the construction of specific knowledge necessary to perform job activities. A control room of a hydroelectric plant was used as the setting for this research and the workers in the room were the study’s participants. Data showed that the basics principles, which sustain all development of activities in the room are dialogic interactions and actions in situ. Through negotiations and interactions the participants use their concrete circumstances to build the specific knowledge necessary to perform their work in a coordinated manner, not only in the control room, but also in the complete system.

Keywords : Interaction; construction of specific knowledge; Kinter-subjectivity.
