The growing interest in the practice of Sport Psychology has taken theoretical arguments to a secondary role. The present study reviewed the Sport Psychology trajectory, in particular, the last 40 years. The current concepts and theoretical references which direct the professionals’ thinking and practice were analyzed in order to understand the delimitation of the field. Sport Psychology was discussed as a sub-area of Sport Science and/or a Psychology Specialization. Its transformation which took place at the same time as the historical process of the science were also a focus of interest in the present study.
