Abstract

VERISSIMO, Danilo Saretta  and  FURLAN, Reinaldo. Merleau-Ponty and the spontaneous evolution of psychology. Temas psicol. [online]. 2006, vol.14, n.2, pp. 143-151. ISSN 1413-389X.

In this article, we approach the scientific concern that there is in Psychology from the perspective of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, emphaisizing the author's approuch of Gestalt's psychology and psychanalysis. According to the philosopher, Human Sciences deal with their internal contradictions and present a spontaneous development. The instability of the Human Sciences betwen objectivity and subjectivity leads to their constant revision of the interreations betwen these two points. In fact, it is observed that these sciences, including psychology, are working towards a better circunscription of their study object. In this matter, the researcher is the actor of constant self-criticism, he is the referee of conflicts betwen the realistic and intellectualistic perspectives. The Gestalt psychology and psychoanalysis played a positive role in Merleau-Ponty's philosophy and represented the "psychologist's self-criticism" movement in it which, followed and radicalized, revealed these psychologies "true inspirations" and makes it possible to elaborate new reflection instruments
