TARNOWSKI, Marelaine  y  CARLOTTO, Mary Sandra. Burnout Syndrome in students of psychology. Temas psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.15, n.2, pp. 173-180. ISSN 1413-389X.

This investigation evaluated if there is difference in the dimensions of the Burnout Syndrome in students in the beginning and in the end of a psychology course in a private university downtown in Porto Alegre. The sample was made of 33 students beginning the course (first year) and 33 students finishing the course (senior year). As research instruments the MBI-SS (Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey) was used as well as a questionnaire to identify the students. The research was made in classroom intentionally selected. The results identify that the students at the end of the course show a significant statistic difference in relation with the dimension of the Emotional Exhaustion, in other words, presenting a bigger feeling of exhaustion than the classmates from the beginning of the course. In the dimensions of Disbelief and Professional Efectiveness any differences were identified. Results point out to the necessity of interventions in students at the end of the course in a sense of prevention of the Burnout Syndrome in the professional life.
