Abstract

The communication is the great obstacle in the education of the people with deafblindness. The vision and the hearing are two important senses in the process of acquisition of the communication. The sensorial privation of modalities causes problems of communication, mobility, information and it needs specific stimulation and also spcefic support. The objective of the study was to evaluate the levels of communication of an adolescent pupil with deafblindness to program, fortify and implant communication forms. An adolescent and her/his mother participated on the stydy, as mediators. The communication occurred by means of familiar and iconics gestures and isolated gestures of the Brazilian Language of Signals (Libras). The sessions (15) had been filmed and transcribed. The data categorized and analyzed considered by Rowland e Stremel-Campbell levels of communication. There was a reduction of the behaviors' frequencies in more primitive levels and gradual increase in elaborated levels of communication.
